About The Rainbow Crosswalk
The Rainbow Crosswalk is a community-based, non-profit Pride organization, of and for 2SLGBTQIA+ residents in the Woodstock and the Upper River Valley area of New Brunswick. Established in 2021, it became incorporated in June 2023. The organization’s mandate is to engage all types of community members and partners to create a community that supports its 2SLGBTQIA+ citizens, at the government, business, and community levels.
In addition to this online portal, The Rainbow Crosswalk also engages on social media to provide health information, family resources, events and contact information on services in the area that focus on mental health, health care, legal services, gender affirming care and general allied-friendly and 2SLGBTQIA+ owned businesses, both locally, provincially and nation wide.
The Rainbow Crosswalk also serves as a social network to bring together both 2SLGBTQIA+ community and the greater allied community for events and support. Along with nurturing a relationship with local government and communities, it will bring people that may live in rural areas and are isolated, a new community for them to access.
The name Rainbow Crosswalk is taken from an event in 2017 where the rainbow crosswalk in the center of Woodstock, NB was vandalized. The community response to that was a coming together of people from all walks of life and beliefs. They showed Woodstock that there was a community that cared.
Since then, the rainbow has been placed on the poles along Main Street where they can not be vandalized.
It is this spirit that The Rainbow Crosswalk takes it name.

We acknowledge that we live on the land that is the traditional unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Wolastoqiyik Peoples. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties do not deal with surrender of lands and resources, but in fact, recognize Wolastoqiyik title and establish the rules for what is an ongoing relationship between nations.
