About The Rainbow Crosswalk
The Rainbow Crosswalk is a grassroots non-profit 2SLGBTQIA+ social justice organization serving the Western Valley area of New Brunswick. Established in 2021 and officially founded as a non-profit in 2023 by three friends wanting to create a social network within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, The Rainbow Crosswalk has grown steadily and is managed by a small group of volunteers who do everything from social media, office administration, event planning, social engagement, and confidential support when needed.
The Rainbow Crosswalk advocates for social justice issues like gender equality, access to gender affirming and reproductive healthcare, food security, full inclusion and diversity at all levels of government, networks with like-minded agencies and groups, and provides factual-based education and information about the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, just to name a few.
The name Rainbow Crosswalk is taken from an event in 2017 where the rainbow crosswalk in the centre of Woodstock, NB was vandalized. The community response to that was a coming together of people from all walks of life and beliefs. They showed Woodstock that there was a community that cared.
It is this spirit behind the crosswalk that The Rainbow Crosswalk takes it name.

Meet the founders behind the Rainbow Crosswalk
Amanda
Amanda, Scott and Kristie knew that 2SLGBTQIA+ people in small and rural areas can be left out of advocacy, inclusion and community. Even before moving to the area, Amanda & Kristie knew they wanted to create a community of 2SLGBTQIA+ people to bring support, social activity and like-minded allies together.
When Scott moved to the area a year later, the beginning seeds were sewn and in June 2023, The Rainbow Crosswalk became a reality.
This reality has created a new found family in the Western Valley area, and that family keeps growing!

We acknowledge that we live on the land that is the traditional unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Wolastoqiyik Peoples. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties do not deal with surrender of lands and resources, but in fact, recognize Wolastoqiyik title and establish the rules for what is an ongoing relationship between nations.
